In 2011, work began on the vision to develop the area around Opaltorget, just outside Gothenburg. The goal was to enhance safety in the neighborhood by creating a new square with residential buildings, parks, shops, and improved accessibility.

Now, ten years later, the project is in full swing. One of the newly constructed buildings houses the new Family Center, district office, pharmacy, and Hemköp grocery store. A large parking garage now spans underneath the entire square.

The developer, Opalparken Förvaltning AB, entrusted Westal with designing the lighting solution. The aim was to create functional and sustainable lighting tailored to the various facilities. The project included lighting for the facade, parking garage, stairwells, offices, and other premises.

The result was a comprehensive indoor and outdoor lighting concept, emphasizing sustainability, functionality, and design.
