Why and where should I choose alternative energy sources?

The Swedish power grid is generally well-equipped to handle the increasing demand we see today. However, it is important to regularly assess the load and consumption in residential areas and properties—not only from a sustainability perspective but also to avoid power peaks in the system and free up electricity for, for example, EV chargers, additional security lighting, etc.

For this reason, we have developed a series of luminaires with alternative energy sources in three different designs, depending on where and how the lighting will be used.

Seasonal lighting - Sunpex
Year-round lighting - Sunpex Elhybrid
Year-round lighting where electricity cannot be installed - Sunpex Vindbybrid

Sunpex

Seasonal lighting where electricity cannot be installed

Sunpex is ideal for seasonal lighting in places like piers, boardwalks, or campgrounds. It is powered by pure solar energy and functions during the spring and summer months when sunlight is available. During fall and winter, there is usually insufficient sunlight to generate enough energy for the luminaire.

  • Powered by batteries charged by sunlight.
  • On/Off switch for energy storage or deactivation.
  • Charging in direct sunlight takes approximately 6 hours and lasts around 8 hours at 100% capacity.

InstallationThe luminaire is mounted on a 38-60mm pole using the included pole clamp or screwed directly onto a wall.

Suitable forSeasonal lighting, such as piers, campgrounds, and boardwalks.

Sunpex Hybrid

Year-round lighting

Sunpex Hybrid is primarily powered by solar energy but automatically switches to the power grid when there are not enough sunlight hours. This makes it a year-round alternative, functioning both in summer and winter. It is ideal for installation in locations like residential parking areas, helping to reduce strain on the power grid and prevent peak loads.

  • Powered by batteries charged via a 75W solar panel or the power grid when the battery is depleted.
  • The battery operates in temperatures from -15°C to 40°C; in northern Sweden, it is recommended to bury the battery underground.

Installation
The luminaire is mounted on a 60mm pole using the included pole mount. The mount can be installed on both pole tops and arms. Adjustable +/- 15 degrees. Recommended pole height: 4.5m.

Suitable for
Pedestrian and bicycle paths, around properties and driveways, parks, jogging trails, and urban lighting.

Sunpex Wind Hybrid

Year-round lighting where electricity cannot be installed

A fully year-round solution, operating in both summer and winter, with three different alternative energy sources. Ideal for locations where installing electrical wiring is difficult or impossible, such as lighting for mountain hiking trails. Sunpex Wind Hybrid is powered by a solar panel and/or a wind generator. If neither wind nor sun is available, it automatically switches to electric operation.

  • Off-grid system with a separate solar panel and wind turbine.
  • Powered by batteries charged via solar panels and/or wind generator.
  • Full charge lasts approximately 12 hours at 100% capacity.
  • On/Off switch for energy storage or deactivation.

Installation
Mounted on a 76mm pole using the included pole mount.
The solar panel is installed above the luminaire with an adjustable bracket.
The wind generator is mounted on a separate pole bracket.

Suitable for
Locations where electrical wiring is difficult or impossible to install, such as mountain hiking trails.
