IP-rating

IP rating (Ingress Protection) is a standard used to specify the level of protection of electronic devices against the intrusion of solid objects, dust, and liquids.
This standard is used in lighting, as lamps and fixtures are often used in various environments where they may be exposed to different types of influences.

IK Rating

IK rating refers to a standardized classification that measures and describes a lighting fixture's ability to resist physical impact. This standard is developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and indicates the level of protection against mechanical impacts, such as bumps, blows, and collisions.

The IK classification is ranked on a scale from IK00 to IK10, with higher numbers indicating a higher level of protection:

  • IK00: No specific mechanical protection.
  • IK01 to IK04: Protection against small objects and light impacts.
  • IK05 to IK06: Protection against larger objects and more significant impacts.
  • IK07 to IK08: Protection against even stronger impacts and collisions.
  • IK09 to IK10: Highest level of protection, resistant to very strong impacts.

This classification is used to indicate the suitability of a lighting device for various applications, particularly in areas where the risk of physical impact is higher, such as public spaces, industrial areas, and outdoor environments.
